1. Who We Are

MicroSplit is a guest-first web utility built to help diners quickly calculate and split group restaurant bills. The service operates on data-minimization principles: we do not require registration, passwords, email addresses, or phone numbers.

2. Information We Process

We process only data strictly required to deliver the core service:

  • Table Display Names: Nicknames or names entered by users to claim bill items at a specific table.
  • Organizer Payment Information (Optional): Account holder legal name, IBAN, SWIFT/BIC code, bank name, Revolut tag, and PayPal username provided optionally by the table creator. This data is displayed strictly to peers at that table to facilitate P2P settlement.
  • Receipt Images: Photos uploaded for OCR processing are analyzed directly in temporary RAM. We do not retain, catalogue, or persist receipt images on long-term disk storage or S3 buckets.
  • Technical Logs: IP addresses, request timestamps, and user-agent details captured automatically by server infrastructure (Render) to prevent abuse and ensure platform security.
3. Payments & Financial Data

MicroSplit is not a payment processor. We do not process transactions, collect credit/debit card numbers, or store bank credentials. The app merely generates standard P2P deep links (Revolut, PayPal) and standardized European EPC QR codes for direct handoff to external mobile banking apps.

4. Third-Party Processors

Technical operations rely on the following providers:

  • Hosting & Database: Render Services, Inc. (secure cloud hosting and PostgreSQL services).
  • AI Receipt Processing: External LLM/OCR APIs processing payload data strictly during image extraction.
5. Data Retention

Table sessions, claimed shares, and associated item breakdowns are stored to allow table members to view and settle their debts after dining. Receipt images are discarded from server memory immediately after parsing.

6. Your Rights (GDPR / Global Standards)

Under applicable privacy regulations (including GDPR), you retain rights to access, inspect, or request deletion of data associated with your session. Because we do not store emails or accounts, deletion requests are handled using your unique Table UUID link.
